Fakes News
Neko Fakes is from Guelph, Ontario. The group started out as a study of the gifted singer-songwriter Neko Case, but soon evolved beyond just the Neko covers, adding original renderings to their repertoire. This five-piece delivers a sonically-diverse, alt-country vibe that sometimes broods and sometimes rocks, but always tries to play from the heart. With Erin Hamilton’s country-folk vocal stylings, backed by long-time musical collaborators Paul Farmer, Steve Hamilton and Court McRonald (Beautiful Senseless, Cardboard Nationals, Faux Manchu), and Mark Stutman of “Folkway Music” fame, Neko Fakes delivers a mix of ear-worms both earnest and compelling.
